i guess everything recognizes spring...
May. 6th, 2007 12:23 pmwhether they have the hormones or not. at least, i assume that's what's motivating the kittens lately. angelina has been exploring absolutely every nook and cranny she can find - including both sides of both closets (although she can access the whole of either closet from either side, she has insisted on opening the sliding doors on both closets from both sides...usually about the time i'm just about to fall asleep). she's also been poking around on the mantle - only knocking a couple of things off in the process, so i guess i shouldn't complain. the only explanation i can figure for this sudden flurry of exploring is that it's some some of nesting drive - wild cats, i guess, make nests in hollow trees and holes and the like. last night she gave me a whole big affection thing - cuddling up to my chest, kneading my shoulders, and purring like a motor boat - even licking my face a bit - which is a bit over the top for her. fred has put his regular "mr. loverboy" thing into overdrive - i can hardly get anything done because he constantly demands pets and cuddles. ah well - guess i should enjoy the attention while it lasts.
i finally checked on the worms and the compost, i've pretty much ignored them since the kitchen work started. the worms seem to be doing well - something that i put in there has sprouted and seems to be quite happy, i'll have to remember that for starting seeds in the future :D. next weekend, i think i will make another attempt to sieve out some worm castings. the compost doesn't seem to have done much except acquire some mold, so i stirred it up and moved it into the sun. i think i have the wrong sort of compost starter - guess i will have to break down and order the other, it seems to be available only on the web.
yesterday was only in the 60s, but it's almost 80 now - so i have my sunscreen on, and i'm ready to get out with the top down!
