i'm really feeling my age
Jul. 3rd, 2007 01:57 pmi can remember when the republican party was the "law & order" party, the fiscally conservative party, the enemy of bloated government. lincoln must be rolling over in his grave.
actually, that's not true. the republicans have always been hypocrits (at least, in my lifetime). "law & order" just applies to the little thieves, the ones who hold up liquor stores. the big thieves, the ones who rob corporations, those are welcomed as campaign contributors.
sex scandals are only a problem if they are little ones. bill clinton made whoopee with one consenting intern, and he's a disgrace deserving impeachment. bush screws the entire country, and he's a hero.
it's sickening to see how happy the libby thing is making all the conservatives. they really don't care how big a mockery bush makes of the law, as long as he protects one of them. and now, i guess, we'll have to wait until he dies before libby will publish his memoirs, and then we will find out just how much he's been hiding, and why the white house was so eager to keep him out of prison. as if what came out in his trial wasn't bad enough.
really, what will it take before this country finally says "enough!" to these people?
