Well, that could be part of it...

So I have been experiencing continuing frustration in my weight-loss efforts, despite (I tell myself) following the Weight Watchers plan carefully. Last meeting there was a demo on how to use a Weight Watchers(tm) scale, which lets you do stuff like rezero and add more things and calculate PointsPlus values and all like that. Since I love gadgets, and it was the last week of a sale, I bought a scale. I set it up last night and used it to check my breakfast this morning. I had one of my standard "good" breakfasts: high fiber cereal with fresh fruit and 1% milk - which I have been counting as 5 PointsPlus.
Serving size for the cereal is reported on the box as 1 c (49 g). Turns out that 1 c actually weighs 85 g - double the points value. My admittedly generous portion of blackberries -hey, it's fruit! Fruit is free, right?-wrong. 1 point for the blackberries. And I have been just estimating the milk, but I measured it once and it was about 1/2 c - 1 point. Well, my eye is out. 2 points for the milk.
So my frugal 5 point breakfast is actually an indulgent 11 point breakfast (although it is hard to classify shredded wheat and skim milk as 'indulgent'). And that's not even counting my OJ.
SO: lessons learned today: 1) don't trust the box; 2) don't get complacent about measuring; and 3) don't forget, even fruit has points, if you eat enough of it.
