the appliances are here and installed, and i'm already playing with them.

so here's the new stove and microwave:

as you can see, a serious stove - 6 burners (and there's a griddle thing you can put over the center burners - i was going to try that tomorrow, but i haven't found the pancake mix yet).

and the bottom part of the stove, with angelina:

i'm rather stoked to have a window, so i can watch the food cook.  the bit at the bottom is a warmer drawer.

for some reason my pics of the dishwasher came out fuzzy, but there's not too much to see in any event - but here it is:

i'm running a load now, including the pans from dinner - so we will see how well it does.

i will have to admit, i will rather miss the companionship while washing dishes -

(yes, i know she shouldn't be on the counter - but how can one resist?).  but tonight was one of those nights when i didn't finish dinner till 10, and i'm just as pleased not to think of dishes piling up in the sink.

angelina is such a domestic little thing - she was in keeping an eye on the dishwasher earlier.

here's a better shot of the sink side:

...including the pile of new manuals.  unfortunately, all that lovely open space is rapidly disappearing.

the final bathroom:

made it to the street fair, and the switchplate guy was there, so i have a lovely selection in the kitchen now:
on the painted side:

for the light switches:

and on the wood side:

i thought it was cute when i first saw it, i didn't realize it would be so amusing in place.

i did the chicken tonight - it was a tad underdone, but that was my fault - i was trying out the timed cook, and set it at the shorter time - and the chicken was a bit larger than the recipe specifies, so i should have gone longer.  still, quite tasty, and i can cook the thighs a bit more when i reheat them.  it ended up being so late because i didn't get home till about 7, and then it took longer than expected to reduce the sauce.  the smoke alarm and i may have to come to some sort of understanding about how high i can turn up the burners.

i've only just started on putting things away, which limited my cooking somewhat, since i can't find most of the things i needed.  the stuffing, for example, was perhaps a bit more piquant than one would expect, because it called for lemon zest, and the grater is still packed away, but the vegetable peeler was at hand, so i used that, and then chopped the peel - so there were rather sudden spurts of lemon, rather than an overall lemonyness.  pretty tasty, though.

tomorrow:  grilled scallops a la benny (seethed in jealousy)!
