i'm not really an awesome knitter
Feb. 5th, 2008 01:34 pm...but i will admit, i am really getting into some of the awesome possibilities of knitting.
today, i took my knitting for a walk.
i had seen knit picks' goknit pouch, and some discussions of knitting-while-walking (including information about how peasant women used to knit socks while they walked everywhere) - so when i made my last knit picks order, i got one. and promptly decided i was an idiot, since my tai chi class has replaced my tues-thurs walks. but this week the class got moved to monday, so i decided to go for it.
and it went great! doesn't seem to have slowed either my walking or my knitting - i even walked an additional little loop, just to keep going a little longer. it's really only going to work for small mindless projects, of course (i was working on a glove - don't ask me when i think i am going to need wool gloves)...but it would be great for socks.
*sigh* i'm already feeling the urge to do some more socks, all i need is an excuse to start more projects.
i've had to put my sweater on hold for a few days, as it became clear last night that i didn't have quite enough of the blue yarn. but bless ravelry - the shop i bought it from was in their database, i had entered the yarn into my stash (with shop info) - so i clicked on the link, got their phone number, and the nice lady said they mailed yarn out to people all the time - so a new skein should be winging its way to me. (we also discussed what nice yarn it is to work with; she says it gets even softer after washing...now i'm wanting to get more, but i am going to force myself to wait until my next trip to portland). anyway, maybe i can get some progress made on some other things while i'm waiting.
