Mistakes Were Made
Feb. 15th, 2009 01:32 pm...see if you can spot them!
i realized, after all the fussing about errors in my project, i never posted pics of the final results - so here they are. front:

and back:

one of the errors is actually visible on the back view - actually, i guess they both are, if you are sufficiently sensitive. but i think it came out pretty well.
speaking of mistakes, here's something from last night:

this is a peruvian fish purse from the jan/feb 2009 piecework magazine, and it does have its share - but considering i made it in about 6 hours, all together, and the instructions had some bits that are less than clear, i figure it's not too bad. my peruvian knot-work clearly needs some practice, but i'm pretty pleased with it. it's about 7 inches from nose to tail, and very much an impulse project. I was skimming through the mag the other night, thought this would be kind of a fun thing to make for a change purse, then yesterday i was driving by michael's and decided to see if they had the necessary stuff (it's knit in crochet cotton). apparently, i was really taken with the thing, because i managed to remember exactly what i needed (although they didn't have the metalic embroidery thread the pattern called for, had to go with metalic crochet thread). i knit it up last night, did the finally work this morning (embroidering the eyes, making the knots and the cord). we will see how it works as a coin-purse...the knots may or may not survive.
just because it was on the camera, i have to show you this. this is my usual view of fred while i am knitting (sorry for the fuzziness, the distance is a little close for focussing):

at least, this is the view when i don't have his tail in my face. the rest of him is draped, potato-sack-wise, across my lap. actually, he makes a pretty cozy lap-robe, on a chilly evening.
