Oh yeah - I'm still around
Jan. 5th, 2012 04:06 pmalthough still trying to get straight what day it is, after all the holidays.
Had a lovely time with my brother for Christmas, and got beautiful yarn - which very much makes up for the fact that, to my utter and complete lack of surprise, my order from Mackintosh was _not_ awaiting me on my return. Heard (via Rav) from another woman that she was able to get the $200 she spent there back from PayPal, even though the order was placed more than 60 days previously - seems PayPal has a long enough list of complaints against Mackintosh that they were willing to refund her money. So I guess I should call and see if I get anywhere. At the very least, I want to make it very clear to this woman that this is really _not_ the way to do business.
But my new yarn makes me happy, and I am making a lovely hat out of one skein of it - will probably make another hat out of the other lovely skein, but I need to figure out a pattern.
I'm in 12 shawls in 2012 - mostly because I still have a big backlog of shawl patterns and yarns with which to knit them - but I'm finding it a bit of an effort to start a new one this year. Maybe because I still have 2 OTN - one of my own design, which I very much want to get finished.
Found out last night that my yarn habit can have unfortunate impacts on others. I was looking at some yarn I had purchased a couple of months ago; it was in a paper bag with handles. Fred, being a cat, stuck his head in the bag to check things out - but he stuck it through one of the handles. So when he pulled his head out, the handle was around his neck, and the bag came with it - which led to complete panic, and much frantic running around the house by the two of us. He finally ran into the closet, and I was able to corner him and get the bag off him, but he stayed back there quite a while, settling his nerves. So I guess it's time to consolidate the yarn boxes again, so I don't have any more bag-traps around.
