the sink side:

and the stove side:

this is the new cutting board, with a lovely new drawer visible beneath, all nice polished wood inside:

the drawer slides are on the side, which is the one drawback - they are a bit narrower than the old drawers, so i do lose a bit of space...although drawer space wasn't the big problem, it was shelf space.

but i do get this fun flip-out storage panel, for sponges and suchlike (removable for cleaning).

the toe-kick is much nicer than the old one...not that anyone will see it, but i'll know it is there. crown molding is a bit nicer, too - the old ones were just flat (you can maybe see it in the second picture, but i'll take better ones when all the moldings are done). whoever sent the stuff forgot to include the moldings that go where the cabinets touch the walls, and i am also short a couple of hinges (there will be two flip-out panels). the cabinet guy said he will ask them to send a plumber who also does refacing, so he can to the remaining moldings and that one flip-out.
the gas man is coming tomorrow, to do the plumbing for the stove, and the countertops will be installed (that may be happening at the same time, we will see). of course, that means i have lost the bathroom sink now too:

but hopefully the plumber to do all the connecting will come wednesday (guess the adhesives for the counter need to cure overnight). i'm also hoping that the guys tomorrow will by done by noonish so i will have time in the afternoon to do some shopping - need to get new shelf paper, and i decided i would replace my grungy old silverware tray, and get some dividers or holders for some of the other drawers. then, after the plumbing is reconnected, i can wash the shelves and scrub the floor, and put down new paper, and start moving things back in.
