i am a completely ungrateful person.
Jul. 8th, 2006 04:57 pmremember all the whining i did about how it was all cold and grey and drab and not summer at all?
well, now it's too hot.
actually, it's ok outside - but really stuffy inside. i did force myself to at least pick up and do the vacuuming (in part because i hope to head off a potential flea infestation). still early, and i should go unpack more boxes or scrub the floors or something - but it's just too airless. and now i have to patch one of the window screens. i left a window open about 4-5 inches when i went to do the shopping this morning - when i came back, there was about a fist-sized hole in it.
i pointed it out to the kittens, to see if they knew anything about it - they were just shocked that such a thing could have happened. they hadn't noticed it at all - till i pointed it out - but dear kittens that they are, they immediately came over to investigate. each of them carefully examined the damage, from inside and out - looking, sniffing, touching...but they couldn't figure what had happened at all. they were outside when i left, and were outside when i came back three hours later - so clearly (as they were quick to point out) they had been out the entire time, because while they can get in by the catdoor, it is set so they can't go out again, and so therefore they couldn't have had _anything_ to do with it, because the screen was pushed out, and they were already out. the whole time. honest.
just a mystery all around, i guess.
oh yeah - flea infestation. i usually treat cats with advantage, but when i went to the vet about 6 weeks ago, they had a sale on frontline, and the desk person insisted it was just as good, and the stuff is expensive - so i gave it a try. 2 treatments later, and they are both scratching constantly. and whenever fred is on my lap, i end up catching at least a couple of the little critters. so part of my shopping was to find some flea shampoo, but is seems such is no longer available for cats. there were all sorts of shampoos - for making coats softer, glossier, fluffier and tangle-free - but i'm not willing to risk life and limb on the off-chance that they will also do in the fleas. so i got some flea wipes and a flea collar for fred - and if that doesn't help, at the end of the month i'll just eat the expense and go get some advantage. in the meantime, i'll hope i vacuumed up whatever eggs might be around.
